Those are some impressive fish! We’re glad the Fly Rod has the perfect balance of being lightweight while still handling those big king salmon. 🎣
Really nice quality, rod flexibility is a bit stiff but that isn’t a bad thing, just a difference in preference. Also the price is awesome!
I have had this rod for a couple of weeks now. I like the action of the rod as it is not a super fast action rod and that makes it a little more forgiving on me as I am not the most experienced fly caster. It handled carp quite well and this last weekend it was very windy and I was still able to get good cast with better accuracy than I have before. I can't wait to take it on a trip to Panama in January and see how it does.
Fished the Toadfish 9ft 8wt for a couple years. Bought it as a back rod and was very surprised, good action and good quality. However the rod does lack some power for punching into the wind with #1 size redfish bugs so it will not be replacing my other more expensive 8wt as my go to rod. I use SA Grand Slam 8wt for both rods. Also, I love that they give you a second tip section but I really dislike that they will not sell you a replacement if you need it.
Casts larger flies well with nice tight loops. Feels good in hand and is sharp looking with a modern flare . I use a 10wt redfish tapered line in floating and sinking with good results. I would love to have these in a 4 , 7 and 10 weight size ! Bonjour de Louisiane mes amis partout . Bonne chance .
7lb Bonefish in the Bahamas, great little rods for insure and bass! Throw streamers and bulky topwaters very nicely and they have the perfect taper and action for more aggressive species of fish on larger flies.
Fantastic fly rod! I’ve been using it off my dock here in coastal VA to catch striper. Great action and punches flies through the wind with ease. I paired it up with a redington behemoth and 8wt Rio saltwater sink tip line. Wish y’all would make a 9,10, and 12wt! I’d buy them all!
great feeling 4 piece rod. Hefty enough to feel solid with 2 tip sections provided. Very nice aluminum carry case that will provide protection during transport.
I want to start off this review to say for the money, this is a decent rod. I usually fish a Hardy or Sage in the salt and wanted this rod as a back up. For that purpose it is acceptable, but it would not be my primary stick in the salt and especially not in high winds or chucking big flies. It is very soft imo. But I do realize the price-point here and can't compare it to say a Hardy or Sage or even an Orvis rod, but you will pay double and even triple for those rods compared to this one. So yes, I am glad I purchased it, but it will not replace my other rods, primarily a back up rod. Great company though with a great mission!
The rod is a beauty, well balanced and true. It’s helping make improvements in my casting. My goto distance was 35’ and is now a very comfortable 45’. Really looking forward to our first trip to the NC coast in November for redfish and sheepshead. Thany
Looking forward to getting this fly rod some action at Cape Hatteras, North Carolina in November. I got a really great deal on this rod and super excited to watch it bend! Tight Lines!
Great rod, lightweight compared to my other 8wt, softer tip allows for my accuracy and ergo handle feels great! Also loved the rod tube that came with, aluminum with sushi roll to protect rod while in the tube.
These rods are amazing ,I have a fly rod and 3 other spinning reel model rods ,and they are all great , super tough ,great sensibility, and great back bone !! Highly recommend getting your self a toadfish rod of any kind !!!
I’ve only casted mine from the bank but it is very nice! In fact, I ended up buying this latest one for my son. Can’t wait to hook some bull reds on it!
