Offshore Smart Reef Deployment
The Toadfish team is proud to announce the deployment of a new Smart Reef system off the coast of South Carolina. The main objective is data collection to advance modeling for predicting and engineering coastal environments to address issues of sea level rise and flooding; exploring the utility of artificial reefs to potentially be designed to effect coastal beach erosion while also supporting recreational fisheries; and data collection for similar ideas of "living shorelines" like oyster reef restoration projects to help mitigate marsh erosion in estuaries as well as the potentially harmful effects of eutrophication on fisheries.

Project Name
Tampa Bay Estuary Program
Partnered with the Tampa Bay Estuary Program to support seagrass restoration efforts in Florida. Seagrass is crucial for coastal ecosystems, providing habitats for marine life and improving water quality. By donating a portion of proceeds from the Seagrass Green Collection, Toadfish helps fund TBEP’s ongoing research and initiatives to protect and restore seagrass meadows, ensuring healthier waters for future generations.
Project Name
RINK2REEF
Teamed up with Matt Albers of Rink2Reef to support an Oak Island restoration project where their team is using artificial reefs made from recycled hockey sticks to foster new reef development. These innovative structures provide habitats for oysters and other filter-feeding organisms, enhancing water quality and promoting marine biodiversity. By repurposing broken hockey sticks, Rink2Reef not only reduces waste but also contributes to the restoration of vital coastal ecosystems.
Project Name
Billion Clam Restoration Project
Partnered with CCA FL and the Billion Clam Restoration Project to deploy 100,000 baby clams as part of their initiative. This effort aims to revitalize the Indian River Lagoon's ecosystem by introducing clams, which naturally filter and improve water quality. Utilizing innovative methods, including drone technology for precise distribution, the project has successfully planted over 27 million clams to date. The ultimate goal is to deploy one billion clams, enhancing the lagoon's health and supporting aquatic life.

Tampa Bay Waterkeeper
Donated to TBWK and spent the day with Captain Dustin Pack learning about the history of the Tampa Bay Estuary. Historically, Tampa Bay faced significant environmental challenges, particularly in the mid-20th century when urbanization led to severe water quality issues and a drastic decline in seagrass coverage. Organizations like Tampa Bay Waterkeeper have been instrumental in advocating for the estuary's restoration and protection. Through collaborative efforts, there is hope for a healthier future for Tampa Bay's vital ecosystems.

LIVE Watersports + SCDNR
Teamed up with Live Watersports to donate 8 paddleboards to SCDNR to support their Spartina grass restoration initiatives. Spartina grass plays a crucial role in stabilizing shorelines, preventing erosion, and providing essential habitats for coastal wildlife. It also improves water quality by filtering pollutants. Teaming up with LIVE helped spread awareness about the cause through multiple social media campaigns around the project, inspiring others to join the effort to protect our coastal ecosystems.

Make A Purchase, Make A Difference
All Toadfish sales support planting oyster beds, and now we have a non-profit for our conservation efforts, too. We've spent years building partnerships with organizations around the US, and have set up a coalition for the cause.
