Charleston, SC (February 22, 2019) - Charleston-based Toadfish Outfitters, known for its Coastal Kitchen Collection and Inshore Fishing rods, has reached over $1,000,000 in sales in their second year of operation while donating over $50,000 to coastal oyster restoration projects.

Having worked for both the Coastal Conservation Association and major fishing brands, Founder Casey Davidson, a South Carolina native and avid fisherman, knew he wanted to have a business that gave back to the coast. Since the launch in 2017, the company has committed to planting 10 sq. ft. of oyster habitat for every product purchased in an effort to help keep coastal waters clean through their Put ‘Em Back movement.

“Oysters are the ultimate friend of the coast as they help to keep our waters clean,” said Casey Davidson, founder of Toadfish Outfitters. “A single oyster filters up to fifty gallons of coastal water per day, removing the toxins from runoff and creating a coastal habitat where hundreds of smaller species like barnacles, mussels, crab, can thrive.”

Over the last two years, Toadfish has tripled its sales year-over-year, grown to five employees, and has expanded from an in-home operation to an office and warehouse in Charleston. “It is an extremely exciting time at Toadfish with the incredible amount of talent we have drawn in with our brand and mission,” said Davidson. The Toadfish Outfitters team now includes: Thor Rhodin, a design and marketing expert with over 12 years of experience designing products sold in big-box retailers like Walgreen’s, Walmart, and BestBuy; William Trask, a finance and operations manager with a background managing his own wealth management firm, and a law degree from Charleston School of Law; and Hunter Scott, a seasoned salesman with over ten years of experience who is now managing over 500+ independent Toadfish retail locations.

Their products, which have been featured in national media like Garden & Gun, Coastal Living, Food & Wine, Real Simple, are sold both online at toadfishoutfitters.com and in stores across the country including Sur La Table stores.

Toadfish’s Coastal Kitchen Collection includes innovative seafood tools such as the Put ‘Em Back Oyster Knife, Frogmore Shrimp Cleaner, and the Toadfish Crab Cutter. The company also launched a series of Inshore Rods in 2018. A first for the industry, the rods are constructed from a seamless one-piece design which eliminates the need for cork.

At Toadfish’s first national distributor show, Big Rock Sports, Toadfish took home the top prize winner Best in Show for new products.

“Conservation is at the core of everything we do,” said Davidson. “We’re passionate about these products, not only because of their performance but because they allow us to fulfill our mission of creating a healthy coastal ecosystem, Let’s PUT ‘EM BACK.”
