I am a fan of Toadfish products but not this one! Sad to say a waste of $$! BooHoo! And I purchased two, one for myself and the other for a friend. Neither of us can figure out how to use this and manage to get the meat out of crab legs. A cheap pair of crab leg scissors on Amazon works way better.
The king of crab openers, perfect for snow crab. Separates in the middle for ease of dish dishwashing after. Affordable pricing in quick shipping. Like everything towed fish, we love it and had to have it immediately. Makes for great stocking stuffers here in the Low Country.
Haven’t used them yet. But they were a big hit by the recipients that received them as gifts! Hopefully put to good use soon and will give you an update!
Worked exactly as expected. Have used similar type tools in the past, these work as good or better than the others and are of a much higher quality. Would recommend to any seafood fan (but would not loan them out)!
I used these shears to open extra- large king crab legs and an 8 ounce rock lobster tail. They worked beautifully, especially for the lobster tail. I cut through the top of the thawed tail, which also enabled quick removal of the vein.
The first time that I used them was to zip open steamed king crab legs. By not placing the point of the zipper shears just under the shell, I cut into the leg meat a bit before I realized it. User error on my part. Just place the scissors directly under the shell when you start and keep the scissors pointed upward as you cut. Perfect cut every time, and so easy to use. These zipper shears are a great addition to my seafood tool collection!
