Apple Cider Hotty Toddy

There are many wonderful aspects of the holidays that I enjoy. I adore how (almost) everyone has a spring in their step. I enjoy seeing friends and family that I don't see very often. I adore the delectable, heavy, gloriously sugar- and butter-laden fare. I enjoy parades. As well as holiday cards. And then there's the lighting. Not to mention the decorations. And then there's the music. And then there's the bourbon!

This apple-centric version of a classic hot toddy is a fun, warm, and cozy drink that's perfect to sip while sitting around the fire with your family during your holiday feast food coma.

Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 8 ounces (1 cup) apple cider
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 4 teaspoons honey
  • 2 cinnamon stick
  • 4 ounces (1/2 cup) bourbon

Instructions

Combine the apple cider, lemon juice, honey, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about five minutes. Remove from heat, stir in the bourbon, and serve immediately
